11 Productive Breaks To Rest, Renew and Recharge ⏳
Issue #11 : These quick, healthy, and relaxing breaks will boost your productivity and mood.
I am a Kaizen.
I thrive on being optimized and efficient.
And sometimes, this trait also takes a toll on my body and mind and slows me down.
So, I started looking for ways to take productive breaks that help me rest, renew, and recharge.
Here are (<15 mins) productive and healthy breaks that will enhance your performance and will help you grow:
Take a power Nap — Here are the benefits and tips for napping.
Listen to Podcasts — Here are my favorite shows and app for podcast listening.
Read (Listen) Books — I would read/listen to biography or spirituality books when I need a break. Here are my favorite books and reading tips.
Do Meditation — I would do 5-10 mins of Meditation (outside if possible). I ❤️ this 7 mins guided Meditation for a break.
Write Journal — Take a break to write down the highlights, wins, feelings, and learnings of your day in your journal. I use the Day One app for journaling, ❤️ it.
Listen to Music — I have a playlist on Spotify, which I go to when I need a break. Brain.fm app also has scientifically curated Music to rest, recharge and meditate.
Do House Chores — It sounds weird, but it works. Cleaning dishes, folding laundry, organizing desk and wardrobe, or any mindless activity is a good productive break. Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, and many other billionaires do this. (Pro tip: Listen to a podcast or audiobook while you do this)
Do Pushups — Doing pushups also helps pump blood in the body, which helps me recharge and feel better.
Do Stretching — Doing some stretching releases a lot of stress from the body.
Go for a Walk — Steve Jobs (and many others) are known for their walking break. Get a dog if you need some positive push. You can also listen to audiobooks or podcasts during this walk.
Mindful Breathing — Normally, we do passive breathing (required for survival). But focused and mindful breathing has a lot of cognitive, productive, and health benefits + superb break for your mind, body, and soul.
When you press the pause button on a machine, it stops. But when you press the pause button on human beings, they start.
